You are not restricted to your own town
A Scottish solicitor may act anywhere in Scotland, and for most work the firm’s experience matters far more than its postcode. Personal injury actions of any value can be raised in the National Personal Injury Court in Edinburgh whoever acts for you. Executries, wills, conveyancing and employment cases are routinely run at a distance.
Where being local genuinely matters, and it sometimes does, we will say so. A defended contact case that calls repeatedly at a particular sheriff court is the clearest example.
